If you think that Pokémon is some freaky card game, I’m here to change your minds! Pokemon all began when Satoshi Tajiri came up with an idea for a game that simulated animals that children would catch. After he invented them, he named them Pokemon, or Pocket Monsters. He gave them individual names and made cards for them. They bacame so popular that Pokemon video games were manufactured. The first series of those games were the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions. The Gold, Silver and Crystal versions came next. Also around this time, Nintendo began to make pokemon games for game systems other than Gameboy. Next came Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald. Soon came Fire Red and Leaf Green. Recently, Pokemon Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team were released. But the newest Pokemon game yet is Pokemon Ranger. Also, the pokemon cards have grown so big, that kids all over the world compete in battles with the cards to win other cards, or maybe win prize money! So whenever You think that Pokemon is a geeky card game, think of how hard it would be to make a franchise this big!
